Not so tense that it shook, but just tense enough to use his shoulder to aim rather than his slightly shaking hands. He closed his eyes and felt his heart rate. As long as he didn’t take a breath, it would stay slow and predictable. Opening his eyes, he turned the distance-adjusting knob on his scope to cope for what he estimated to be a half-mile shot.
